Praying Your Friends to Christ

The following suggestions on praying for the lost come from a booklet distributed at an evangelistic seminar called Praying Your Friends to Christ:

• Ask god to open their spiritual eyes  -  2 Corinthians 4:4
  4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
• Ask God to set them free from spiritual captivity  -  2 Timothy 2:25-26
  25 Opponents must be gently instructed, in the hope that God will grant them repentance leading them to a knowledge of the truth, 26 and that they will come to their senses and escape from the trap of the devil, who has taken them captive to do his will.
• Ask God to give them ears to hear (Matt 13:15), Faith to Believe (Acts 20:21) And the will to respond (Rom 10:19).
• Ears to Hear  -  Matthew 13:15
  15 For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them.
• Faith to Believe  -  Acts 20:21
  21 I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus.
• And the will to respond  -  Romans 10:19
  19 Again I ask: Did Israel not understand? First, Moses says, “I will make you envious by those who are not a nation; I will make you angry by a nation that has no understanding.”
• Ask God to send people into their lives to witness to them  -  Matthew 9:38
  38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
• Ask God for ways to build caring relationships  -  1 Corinthians 9:22
  22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.
• Ask God for opportunities to witness  -  Colossians 4:3
  3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains
• Ask God for boldness to witness  -  Acts 4:29
  29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.
• Ask God for an opportunity to invite them to a harvest event  -  Luke 14:23
  23 “Then the master told his servant, ‘Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full.
